Who are You?
You would probably respond with your name, age, job, hobbies or maybe where you grew up or live now. As you get older like me and have worked for many years and established a home your identity changes. For years my identity was in my work, I worked at a Library for 17 years and established a home and lived there for 15 years. But what happens once all that you have known and been comfortable with changes?
God has opened doors for me to go to Uganda and in preparing for this move I recently closed my checking account with the bank I have done business with for 20 years. It is a silly thing, but I felt like I was slowly losing my identity. I am now retired from my job, sold a home I was very comfortable in, and am leaving my church family but as I accept these changes in my life I realize this , those things were not my identity. Identity is not in work, possessions, home , job, church or even where we come from. My Identity is in Christ and Christ alone.
You are chosen, handpicked by God: I Peter 2:9, Jeremiah 1:5, Ephesians 1:3-4
You are Irreplaceable: I Thessalonian 1:4
You are loved beyond compare: I John 3:16, I John 4:10, Romans 5:8, Romans 8:35-39
You are worth dying for: Romans 5:7-9, I John 3:16, John 3:16
You are His child: I John 3:1, Galatians 3:26
You are precious to Him: Isaiah 43:4
This is your identity and my identity. The world can never take this away from you. You are loved and set free in his love and Grace. You are a child of the one true God.
Always remember God makes masterpieces. Ephesians 2:10 and Zephaniah 3:17
